CAPPED ELBOW
HYGROMA of the ELBOW
BURSITIS OF THE POINT of the ELBOW
OLECRANON BURSITIS
SHOE BOIL

This condition is caused by trauma to area known as the point of the elbow and results in the formation of an acquired (false) bursa over the olecranon process. The most likely cause is the shoe on the foot of the affected leg hitting the olecranon during movement or more frequently hitting the region when the horse is lying down.
Characteristically a swelling appears over the point of the elbow that may contain fluid. In more chronic cases the swelling consists largely of fibrous tissue. Lameness is rarely present and then only mildly.
Acute cases
Initially for trauma or newly acquired lesion	Arnica 200c
Where fluid is present Apis 200c
Where there is pain, heat or lameness	Bryonia 200c
Where the bone is bruised	……
CUNEAN BURSITIS
CUNEAN TENDON BURSITIS
CUNEAN TENDINITIS

Inflammation of the cunean tendon and its bursa occurs as a consequence of poor conformation, bad shoeing or a poor training regime. Affected horses are lame, sometimes exhibiting obvious swelling over the affected region of the hock on the inside of the leg.
Suggested remedies
Acute cases Arnica 200c,
					Ruta 200c
					Rhus tox 200c
Where there is swelling of the bursa	Apis 30c
Chronic cases with lameness Ruta 30c,
					Rhus tox 30c
Dose twice daily
