Gastric ulceration
This condition has become recognised more recently in horses and reflects changes in the way we feed horses and the degree of stress that we place them under. Gastric ulceration is most likely to occur in horses undergoing training which induces high stress levels. Removal of the stress factor inevitably leads to recovery. Most horses with the condition do not show symptoms. Where present however, these can include loss of general condition, weight loss, anaemia, low blood protein levels and signs of mild colic and sweating after feeding. 
Where gastric ulceration is suspected the following should help recovery. Try to carefully match the remedy on the basis of the psychological make up of the horse as the underlying constitution often underlies the condition.
Lycopodium
This needs to be used on a constitutional basis where possible. Horses that respond are intelligent and respond badly to stress and changes in daily routine. Before being asked to perform they will show symptoms of anticipatory anxiety but will always perform to the best of their ability. They are prone to minor digestive upsets and flatulence. Symptoms are always worse between 4 and 8 p.m.
Dose:	30c twice daily for 2 weeks.
